Biella, rises to the foots of the pre-alps, to the convergence of the torrent Cervo with the torrent Oropa. The town is divided in a low part (Biella Piano) and a high part (Biella Piazzo) attainable, beyond that across the characteristic alleys, with a funicolar built in 1185. The province is rich of interesting monuments to visit that the Piazzo, the Ricetto, the Graglia, the Bassa and the Burcina. The town is besides renowned for its typical dishes among which spiccano the Maccagno (agreeable cheese) and the mush concia of Oropa.
